The Flap Over Fluoridated Water
Many people have become aware that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have recently recommended that the levels of fluoride added to public drinking water sources be reduced. While the reasoning behind this is sound, and does not equate to a recommendation for elimination of fluoride from drinking water, there are certain vocal fringe elements seizing upon this as proof that their paranoid conspiracy theories have been finally borne out. For many years there have been cries from the shrill few that our water was being poisoned by the addition of this mineral. Hearing an actual respected health agency offer even so much as constructive criticism of water fluoridation has whipped this element up once again and given them just enough of a tinge of legitimacy to potentially mislead some portion of the general public. Dr Bruce Fay, Wilmington dentist, wants you to look at this issue more dispassionately.
